On September 24, 2021, Apple released the iPhone 13 Pro. The 128GB variant, which is the least expensive, costs $999, £949, or AU$1,699, while the 256GB and 512GB models each cost $1,099, £1,049, and AU$1,869, respectively. This time around, there is also a 1TB variant available for $1,499, £1,449, or AU$2,569.

The successor of Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro will be unveiled on September 7, 2022, and is anticipated to be on sale on September 16. Prices are said to start at $1099, which would be an increase of $100 above the iPhone 13 Pro. This price rise can be attributed to increasing production expenses as well as the potential introduction of a new iPhone 14 Max model that will need to fill the space between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14.

Speaking of the iPhone 14 Pro, there are so many improvements anticipated for this range that Apple may decide to increase the price of both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max by $100. We’re talking about a brand-new 48MP primary camera, an always-on display, a speedier A16 Bionic CPU, and 256GB of storage.

Let’s see the key departures in the two top models of the iPhones

Design

Apple is supposedly switching to a new titanium alloy that will be far more durable than the stainless steel frame of the iPhone 13 Pro, according to a number of sources, including leaker Jon Prosser.

The front of the iPhone 14 Pro, though, is perhaps where the design differences will be most noticeable. According to several reports, the iPhone 14 Pro will ditch the iPhone 13 Pro’s large display notch in favour of two “hole and pin” islands, with the screen expanding to cover them. Overall, it will resemble a Samsung Galaxy S phone rather than an iPhone, at least from the front.

According to speculations, the iPhone 14 Pro will be offered in a brand-new, deep hue of purple. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the standard gold, graphite, and silver variants make a comeback, but perhaps in slightly altered shades.

Display

The Super Retina XDR OLED display of the iPhone 13 Pro measures 6.1 inches and has a resolution of 1170 x 2532. In addition, Apple’s 120Hz Pro Motion refresh rate standard for smartphones made its debut. According to rumours, the iPhone 14 Pro will maintain a similar specification, while there may be improvements to the image clarity and brightness.

A variable refresh rate is made possible via LTPO technology, which Apple may be able to enhance. Where appropriate, the iPhone 13 Pro screen can drop to 10Hz, while the iPhone 14 Pro screen may be able to descend to 1Hz.

Performance

With its lightning-fast A15 Bionic CPU, the iPhone 13 Pro has continued to be among the quickest smartphones available. With the iPhone 14 Pro, which is anticipated to operate on an A16 Bionic CPU, that is almost certainly going to change.

With the performance of the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple is predicted to be truly making a generational leap. The memory of the iPhone 14 Pro could see another boost. Several reports indicate that Apple is switching from LPDDR4X RAM to the speedier LPDDR5 standard for the next Pro, even though it will supposedly use 6GB of RAM, much like the iPhone 13 Pro.

According to speculations, one aspect of the new Pro’s storage options could remain unchanged.

Camera

Three 12MP sensors are part of the iPhone 13 Pro camera system. With its greater size and sensor shift optical image stabilisation mechanism, the primary wide sensor reigns supreme in low light and video. According to rumours, Apple will upgrade the primary sensor in the iPhone 14 Pro by a significant amount. Apple is supposedly upgrading the camera’s pixel count, this time from 12MP to 48MP, for the first time in years.

The second and third cameras on the iPhone 14 Pro may really be the same 12MP ultra-wide and telephoto cameras seen on the iPhone 13 Pro as we haven’t heard anything noteworthy about them.

The selfie camera of the iPhone 14 Pro might  soon be updated. A larger f/1.9 aperture and the addition of autofocus appear to boost Face Time calls and provide a more noticeable depth-of-field effect.

Battery

A 3,095mAh battery was added to the iPhone 13 Pro. We’re hoping the iPhone 14 Pro will be able to do the same. Apple is rumoured to be increasing the iPhone 14 Pro’s battery capacity to 3,200mAh. That is a small but appreciable gain. However, the iPhone 14 Pro is anticipated to be a more ravenous beast. The new A16 Bionic chip will probably be a more effective processor, offsetting that. Basically, we’ll be astonished if the iPhone 14 Pro doesn’t survive a full day of heavy use on a single charge like the iPhone 13 Pro. This time, hopefully, we’ll have a little bit more than 10–20% left in the tank.

Don’t expect the charge issue to improve any time soon. There is a general consensus that Apple will continue to use the USB-C standard for another year, and we haven’t heard any news concerning faster charging.

Expectation

While the iPhone 14 appears to be a little upgrade, we anticipate the iPhone 14 Pro to provide far more than the iPhone 13 Pro did. Indications of a redesigned notch design, an enhanced and always-on display, quicker performance, and a potential significant improvement to the primary camera sensor promise to ratchet up on everything we enjoyed about the iPhone 13 Pro.  Of course, it is still up in the air whether or not Apple will be able to carry out each new feature without a hitch. Apple has a lot to do because the iPhone 13 Pro was a pretty darned smooth operator.
